Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Dr. Danita M.B. Young, announced that in the safety of our Illinois community, and in the best interest of our students and their families, we will not be hosting an in-person Moms Weekend this April. This means that the Illini Union Board’s annual Moms Weekend Craft and Vendor Fair will not occur in-person.
We understand that this has been a particularly difficult year for our vendors, many of whom depend heavily on events like the Craft and Vendor Fair. To try and ease some of this difficulty, the Illini Union Board, in partnership with the Parent and Family Programs Office, is designing an online Craft and Vendor Fair Exchange that will allow people to visit your business’s website and purchase items directly from you.
This online exchange will become live on the first day of Moms Weekend (April 9) and will remain active for the duration of the spring semester. There is NO CHARGE to be featured on this page. It is a free service that we are happily offering to all our vendors (past and present). Click here to provide all of the information we will need to feature you on Craft and Vendor Fair Exchange. (deadline: March 5)
We realize that not all of you have a website where customers can purchase from you directly. With that in mind, we are happy to provide a detailed step-by-step process on how you can create your very own Etsy account. Etsy is a website that caters specifically to the types of vendors that would normally be featured during our Craft and Vendor Fair. Etsy offers you the ability to open your very own on-line shop for free. Please note that while it is free to open a shop on Etsy, there is a small fee to post and sell items. Etsy has a helpful customer service staff that can answer any questions you may have. We are also more than happy to help you through this process. How to set up an Etsy account.
