The Legacy of Learning and Service Scholarship is funded by the student body through fees that are voted on by these very students. The fee was approved by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Trustees. The scholarship is designed to assist students in need of financial aid who are willing to participate in community service.
Students are selected for the Legacy Scholarship based on the criteria listed below:
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Demonstrate a need for financial aid as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
If you are a recipient, you will receive more information in August and will gain access to Compass course materials to complete the service component of the scholarship. You will then have until February of the following year to submit documentation of having completed at least 50 hours of community service.
If you have any questions about the community service requirements, you can check the informational piece listed below. If you're not finding the answers you need, please contact the Office of Volunteer Programs by email or phone.
