Grounds for your Garden Program

This program aims to lessen the amount of grounds in the landfill while helping with gardens/plants.

Stop at the Illini Union Bookstore Starbucks
Grab a five-pound bag of used coffee grounds to use in your garden or plants (these are located just before the counter)
The bags are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. If you don’t see any bags, please ask the barista
Baristas package the used grounds inside the same foil packaging that the beans originally came in, recycling those bags

The Benefits of Adding Coffee Grounds to Gardens:

For Compost Pile

Combine with ‘brown’ materials for enriched compost. Experts recommend up to 20% coffee grounds in a compost pile.
