The Illini Union has seating available for studying in CLASS, the Courtyard Cafe, and the Lower Level dining area. In addition, there are three study locations located on the first floor with the Pine Lounge, Presidents Lounge, and South Lounge.
Study Space Details:
CLASS (Computer Lab and Student Space) is conveniently located in the lower level of the Illini Union and has all the technology to make your studies successful. It also offers two conference rooms that are available for groups of four (4) or more students to collaborate on team projects. Conference rooms are available on a first-come, first-serve basis for a two-hour maximum block of time.
- 25 individual work stations with USB connectivity
- 2 collaboration rooms with 55" hi-def displays (groups of up to ten)
- 5 open collaboration areas
- WIFI connectivity throughout the entire space
- Dance studio available with reservation through Event Services
There are tables and chairs available for individual and group studying. Starbucks is conveniently located here. This is NOT a quite study space as events take place in this location throughout the day.

Pine Lounge and Presidents Lounge
Located on the NW side of the Illini Union (next to the Art Gallery), these spaces offer quiet study space at individual tables. Both will be open during normal operating hours. NOTE: due to events, these spaces may be unavailable for studying at various times.
With a gorgeous view looking out onto the Quad, the South Lounge is an open study area with panoramic windows that let the sunlight shine through. The two fireplaces on either side are flanked by plush chairs and couches, with the center of the room equipped with several seating areas for individual or group studies.
